Isabelle Rivoal is a researcher at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and a Lecturer at Paris X. Her doctoral fieldwork was with the Druze community in Israel, where  she studied the social organization of  a secret religion in a society radically different order worldly and religious order. After graduating, she shifted her research to the Druze community in Lebanon, focusing on issues of leadership and hospitality. Isabelle has recently begun an entirely different project examining the concept of the “loser” in contemporary culture. Isabelle loves cheese, running, badminton, and hosting friends who visit Paris.
