Gabriela Vargas Cetina is a Professor in the Facultad de Ciencias Antropologicas at the Universidad Autonoma de Yucatan and a practising musician.  Her research has centred upon the anthropology of organisations and the anthropology of music. She is also interested in expressive culture, primarily in North America (Canada, United States and Mexico), and Italy. In recent years Gaby has become interested in cyberspace, information networks and online sociability. Gaby blogs about her work on her website, Antropologia: una perspectiva multiple. She is currently writing a book called Beautiful Politics of Sound: Trova Music in Yucatan, Mexico.

Gaby has authored five books.
